Lasting change rarely starts with willpower. It starts with awareness — naming the pattern before trying to break it.

Post-traumatic growth: not just surviving hardship, but being shaped by it into someone with deeper meaning, agency, and connection.

Our earliest bonds become a template for adult relationships. Secure attachment isn't a birthright — it can be earned, re-learned, repaired.

Eric Richers, Licensed Professional Counselor in Eugene, Oregon
Multicultural

Identifying as Latino — my mom is from Cuernavaca, Mexico and my dad was from Bad Salzungen, Germany.

— Hey, I'm Eric.

I built CUTI to bring therapy to people for whom healing
has felt out of reach.

My goal is to empower you to be your best self. Imagine yourself free from dependence. Your anxiety, joy, zest, and self-perception — untethered from any outcome. Imagine changing only one thing, and changing everything.

I bring 7+ years of experience in residential drug and alcohol treatment, and currently work PRN at the Lane County Jail, serving folks in high-needs environments. These years have honed my ability to sit with chaos, trauma, and Severe and Persistent Mental Illness with steady compassion.

My path to therapy wasn't linear. Before my clinical career, I was a software engineer and an instructor at MHCC.

Rebuilding trust and connection, together.

Do relationships feel more challenging than they should?
Do you feel stuck, isolated, and searching for meaning?

It's normal to use patterned behaviors to self-soothe — they can be effective, but they can also interfere with your life. Trauma is complex and personal. It can leave you feeling out of control, dysregulated, and challenged in relationships.

Healing and growth is possible. Our therapeutic alliance is the most important determinant of success for you. I specialize in trauma, addiction, and attachment therapy, using a wide range of modalities — Somatic, ACT, IFS, DBT — combined with talk therapy.

We'll move at your pace and comfort. I'm an eclectic therapist trained in CBT, DBT, and SFBT, using them as needed. Pain and wounds can heal with treatment. I provide a safe place to walk the path to healing together.

As a practitioner, the most important thing I can bring to a therapeutic relationship is authenticity. Reach out to schedule a free consultation. There is no problem too big or small. Starting therapy is an investment in your health, wellbeing, and future — I'm here to support you.
